A full-service signed language interpreting agency, networked to a pool of certified and licensed interpreters throughout Maine and New England. When Hearing and Deaf people need to communicate with each other, use a professional and certified interpreter to assure accuracy and clarity. Providing Interpreters not only assures compliance with ADA accessibility laws, but also embraces the participation of Deaf persons in your events, whether they be staff, colleagues, clients, students, patients, or patrons.
Services
Our agency is staffed by RID-certified interpreters, who are responsible for scheduling, coordinating, contracting, and operating the day-to-day functions of an interpreting agency. We utilize a diverse network of certified interpreters as well as a small number of qualified interpreters working toward certification.
Translating and producing videos of frequently-used written documents into ASL, which can be understood by Deaf persons. When unable to bring in an interpreter for your communication needs, we can help you remotely connect to a qualified interpreter.
Our primary activity is the delivery of interpreting services statewide. The most common type of interpreting is between English and ASL (American Sign Language). Such interpreting creates an accessible environment in which Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing and Hearing individuals can communicate with each other.
Written English is based on what is spoken and heard in English. A person, deaf from birth, may struggle with reading a language which they've never heard spoken, such as English. Thus, a Deaf person can become fluent in a visual language such as ASL (American Sign Language), but have difficulty reading an auditory language such as English.
