Ms. Stone has been an outstanding addition to HARIS due to her organization, coordination, and creativity skills. She brings with her over 20 years of experience in the office environment and project management. In addition, Ms Stone has a never-ending amount of patience. She possesses the ability to work with diverse people even if they are in emotional distress or psychologically challenging situations.
Ms. Stone has been teaching American Sign Language classes, teacher/interpreter in-services, workshops, and mentoring for over 20 years. She has provided consumer trainings and advocacy workshops for well over 6 years.
Ms. Stone completed the Interpreter Preparation Program for Deaf Persons (IPP) at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, and received a certificate in 1996. Since such time, she is one of the few Deaf people statewide who has specialized in becoming a professional interpreter. She is qualified to relay interpret in almost all environments imaginable.
Finally, while Ms. Stone works fulltime at HARIS, teaches part-time at Phoenix College in the IPP, serves on the board of the Phoenix Deaf Women Organization, presents workshops, and cares for her family. She is attending the University of Phoenix, Business Management program in order to complete a bachelor's degree by 2006.
