Language (common languages like Spanish or Vietnamese are much less expensive than exotic languages like Nepalese or Dinka.). I first started working with Transcend in 2002. As the director of the San Francisco Superior Court's civil self-help center, my first priority was to develop informational and educational materials that were user friendly, multilingual, and could reach as many San Franciscans as possible. It was crucial that the materials be not only in plain English, but be translated into our five target languages in a manner that was culturally sensitive and appropriate.Without Maria Mindlin and the staff at Transcend, we would not have been able to create these documents.
In the early 1990s, Transcend was one of very few certified translation services in the nation. As such, we quickly became the translation provider to many courts, class action attorneys, and consumer and health organizations. Our clients wanted to make sure their information would be translated faithfully and accurately, mirroring the English source document.
